How we read

Reading for me is a way to get away from the world it helps me relax my mind and discover a new place. The way I got introduced to reading was in elementary when we used to read for thirty-minutes and then get our parents to sign it  I'm gonna admit I never enjoyed reading as a kid so I would just stare at a page for thirty minutes and tell my mom I read until one day in class I got told to go up in front of everyone and tell them what the book was about. I was embarrassed I just stood there looking at everyone blank my hands were sweaty and I felt like throwing up. I made up something so I wouldn't look so stupid but obviously my teacher knew I made up something because she has read the book. That was a lesson learned every since that day I payed attention to every book I read I even found out what kind of books I really liked and what books I didn't find so interesting. Some strategies I learned while reading is to picture yourself in the book and pretend your the main c

Journal topic - A minute of mindful sign

Throughout these three months of distance learning it has taught me a lot it has taught me how to speak up and how to be independent. On Wednesday Dr.Preston talked about a sign he posted on his blog it was about waiting at least five minutes before walking into his class because it causes a distraction while trying to think and it inspired me. It inspired me to create a sign just like Dr.Prestons for my room I spend at least 10 minutes creating it on Thursday morning and for a surprise my sister has not enter without knocking first and I have gotten assignments finished without disruption.

Les miserables Chapter 8

My first impression of this chapter was different from the rest because in this chapter the senator went on and one explaining to the bishop about how death is death. He continued trying to make the bishop understand while the bishop listened clapping his hands.

Webinar with Dr.Quinn

On Thursday at 3:00pm I joined a webinar meeting with Dr.Preston and Dr.Quinn in the meeting Dr.Quinn made some really good points about virtual learning or what he likes to call distance learning when Dr.Preston asked Dr.Quinn about the pandemic his response was that its hard to not be together and learning over the internet is difficult because when it comes to a test were expected to have a good performance and the teachers have to be prepared for either the worst or the best. Another thing that caught my eye was when Dr.Quinn was talking about 'Safe to share' which means to be patient and make it better than those who have expectations of you and be aware because what you say and do will come after you.

Les Miserables Ch3

In chapter 3 the bishop managed to go visit two hundred and eighty five auxiliary chapels and when he got to the neighborhood he would go on foot and he would go on a donkey when he was going in the mountains. Two old women accompanied him but when the trip was to hard for them he would go alone. One day when the bishop arrived in Senez which was an ancient episcopal city he was mounted on an ass his purse which was very dry at the moment did not permit him any equipage. The mayor of the town came to receive him at the gate of the town and watched him dismount from his ass , with scandalized eyes. Some citizens even laughed around him ! Even though he was laughed at he was very kind and talked rather than preached.

Meaning of signs and symbols

There are many symbols and signs around the world there are even signs inside your home could be a clock giving you a sign of the time point is without signs we wouldn't know what to do. The greenlight at the end of Daisy's dock in The Great Gatsby could possible mean a lot of different thing but what I think it meant his unwavering love for Daisy or it could represent the American Dream. Some similar ways people can relate to animals could be the common sense … One of my favorite movies growing up was The Rise Of The Planet Of the Apes when I first watched it at the age of eight I really thought apes and chimpanzees can possibly talk believe me or not !! They acted so much like humans the way they makes signs with their hands to communicate with each other and the way they look at people so they can scare them away. They are so smart in the movie a human gave a chimpanzee a toy and he automatically started playing with it like a normal human he wasn't acting wild or anythi

Les Miserables CH 1

In chapter 1 we were introduced to Myriel he was around seventy-five years of age he was described as short in stature but was well formed, he was elegant, graceful and intelligent. He was the son of councillor of the parliament of Aix hence he belonged to the nobility of the bar. Myriel was married at a very young age perhaps the age of eighteen or twenty but later on his wife died of malady of the chest from which she long suffered from. He sadly didn't have any children. After all of the tragedy he went went to Italy and returned being a priest.

Les Miserables Ch2

In chapter 2 when the bishop arrived at the hospital he went completely silent. He could not believe how crowded the beds were against each other and how the halls were nothing but rooms and the air was difficult to come in as well . There were 26 patients in the hospital and the ray of sun, the garden was very small for the convalescent. The doctor explain to the bishop that when the typhus fever came around there were more than a hundred patients and they do not know what to do ! After a moment of silence the bishop looked around the apartment and he knew exactly what to do, he told the doctor that he wanted to switch homes to give the patience a larger place to recover. The bishop gave his home to the hospital because he genuinely didn't have a family. The bishop was given a salary of fifteen thousand francs and he spend half of it on his community instead of spending it on himself.

Journal topic -- What do I think about ??

When it gets really quiet around my house and my phone just ran out of battery I tend to think about school. Not just about the homework that I have to do but about the future .. What do I wanna become? What schools should I apply to? where do I work at for the rest of my life? Should I choose a job that gets paid really good or should I choose a job that I genuinely enjoy doing? After those comments that pop up in my head I start searching up EVERYTHING about different careers. But a reminder that I keep to myself is that whatever I become in the future I have to be proud of it !!  I wanna look back at it when I'm an old grandma and say "YES I DID THAT mhhmmm!!"

Journal 10/1

Today's topic is about "bad" words.. what could they mean? There can be confusion some words can have million of other definitions. There are people who travel around the world who may not know the slang of the places they're going to. There are times where we don't mean to say what we say but we do have to be careful and know the meaning behind it before saying it because as little as words can be it can still hurt.

WHY I CHOOSE WHAT I CHOOSE

The book I chose was 'The Outsiders" I chose The Outsiders because when I  got a chance to read it back in seventh grade I feel in love with it and since Mr. Preston said he didn't mind us reading a book we have read before I had to read it again .. It was a must it was the first book that came to mind. I had various options I had 'The Invisible Man' and 'Hamlet' in mind but I decided to read each  book one at a time. I am so excited to start reading! If I'm going to be honest reading was never my first choice but now that I have free-time reading a book definitely sounds interesting especially its a suspenseful book.
